Can anyone actually believe it is December already?! Where has this year gone? It only feels like yesterday when I moved across to Canada, it’s been FIVE months. It’s crazy how quick it is going however I am pleased to say my Dad comes this month, 22 days away. Christmas away from home won’t be too bad after all.
So to mark December and the run up to Christmas I thought I’d give daily blogging a go, like an advent calendar with new and old pictures of my time here. So the 1st of December will be dedicated to my trip to Whistler on Tuesday and Wednesday, first ski trip of the season and it didn’t disappoint.
James and I headed to Whistler on Tuesday morning at 6am with Epic Rides, a bus company which offers a return trip for $35. We were so excited to get there, they had received a lot of snow and even opened the resort early. James had invested in a new snowboard and I was just eager to get on some skis.
The day started well, we met some people from Vancouver and made new friends whilst warming up on the slopes. Then unfortunately James had a fall and landed on his shoulder causing it to dislocate. Safe to say he couldn’t continue and spent the rest of the time in a sling, spending money on health care and x-rays. Drinks were definitely on the cards for the evening.
Apres ski is way more tame here than places I’ve been to in Europe. It was chilled with fire pits and pitchers of beers but no dancing on the tables in your ski boots Folie Douce style.
With it being so early in the season not all the lifts and pistes were open however still plenty of skiing for two days. It was perfect conditions, soft snow and great company. Overall we had a ball, well maybe not so much for James but he was still in good spirits and enjoyed talking about his dislocation a lot (hehe).
I’ll be back soon Whistler and I’d like to request sunshine for next time please!
